    Tasting

This vintage impresses with its structure, freshness, and velvety texture.

The vivacity and creaminess of a grand cru classé from Margaux

    The property
Ranked 4ᵉ Grand Cru in 1855, the Château Prieuré-Lichine brilliantly embodies the typicality of the illustrious Margaux appellation, located on the left bank of Bordeaux.

Originally known as Château du Prieuré de Cantenac, the estate took its current name after being acquired in 1951 by Alexis Lichine, an emblematic figure in the wine world nicknamed the "Pope of wine". Upon his death in 1989, his son Sacha continued his work until 1999, the year the estate was integrated into the Ballande group.

Driven by a constant quest for excellence, Château Prieuré-Lichine is committed to producing great wines that highlight the richness and complexity of Margaux's prestigious terroirs.

    The vineyard
The Château Prieuré-Lichine vineyard extends over 85 hectares within the Margaux appellation. The vines, averaging 30 years old, are planted on günzian gravel soils typical of the region.

    Vinification and aging
Rigorous harvesting of the grapes accompanied by precise sorting. Vinification takes place without crushing, with gravity filling of the vats. The maceration period is 26 days. Aging is carried out in barrels, 35% of which are new with 10 different levels of toasting, and 65% are second wine barrels.

    Blend
The Château Prieuré-Lichine 2024 is composed of 65% cabernet sauvignon, 29% merlot, and 6% petit verdot.
