Tasting
Color
The color is a luminous and brilliant ruby red.

Palate
On the palate, this wine seduces with its generous volume and silky texture. The tannic structure is both present and smooth, offering a remarkable sensation of softness. The red and black fruit aromas persist with intensity, supported by a vivifying freshness that brings balance and elegance. The finish extends with persistence, confirming the exceptional quality of this cuvée.
Food and wine pairing
This Beaune Premier Cru is the ideal accompaniment to grilled or roasted red meats, particularly beef and feathered game dishes. It also pairs perfectly with traditional Burgundian dishes such as coq au vin or beef bourguignon. Roasted poultry, such as capon or pigeon, also make excellent pairings. For mushroom lovers, a wild mushroom risotto will enhance the wine's earthy notes. Finally, mature Burgundy cheeses, notably Époisses, will create a perfect regional harmony.
Service and storage
It is recommended to serve the Beaune 1er cru "Grèves Les Trois Journaux" 2019 at a temperature between 17 and 18°C. Decanting for about thirty minutes before serving will allow the wine to fully express its aromatic palette.
An elegant and structured Beaune Premier Cru from the sunny 2019 vintage
The estate
Founded in the 11th century, Domaine du Château de Meursault is among the oldest historical properties in Burgundy. Since 2012, the Halley family, the current owners, have undertaken a remarkable renaissance of this emblematic Côte de Beaune estate. Under the direction of Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, the château today spans approximately 65 hectares of vines spread over more than a hundred plots, including five Grands Crus and twenty Premiers Crus. Certified organic since 2022, the estate distinguishes itself by its pioneering environmental commitment and innovative agroforestry projects. The property has also undertaken a complete restoration of the historic château, completed in 2024.
The vineyard
The Beaune 1er cru "Grèves Les Trois Journaux" comes from a plot of approximately one hectare located in the heart of the Les Grèves climat, the largest Premier Cru in the Beaune appellation. This plot occupies a mid-slope position with a full eastern exposure, benefiting from optimal sunshine. The name "Les Trois Journaux" refers to an ancient Burgundian agricultural measure, the "journal" representing the surface area a man could plow in one day. The soils are characterized by their exceptionally gravelly clay-limestone composition, almost sandy in places, with a low clay content and an abundance of stones. This soil type ensures remarkable natural drainage and favors optimal berry concentration.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage in Burgundy is considered one of the most remarkable of the beginning of the century. The growing season benefited from particularly favorable weather conditions, characterized by moderate heat and exceptional balance. The cool nights of August and September allowed the natural acidity of the grapes to be preserved despite high daytime temperatures. This thermal alternation favored harmonious ripening, producing wines combining structure, freshness, and vibrant fruit expression. The year 2019 stands out for its ability to combine immediate accessibility with remarkable aging potential.
Winemaking and aging
After manual harvesting, the grapes for the Beaune 1er cru "Grèves Les Trois Journaux" 2019 are carefully sorted before vinification. Fermentation takes place with precise extraction control to obtain a refined tannic structure. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels from selected coopers, notably François Frères, Taransaud, and Damy. The aging combines new barrels with those of one or two wines, allowing for complexity and subtle woody notes without masking the fruit expression. During this period, regular lees stirring enriches the texture of the wine.
