The Estate

Founded in the 11th century, Domaine du Château de Meursault stands as an unmissable historic figure in Burgundy. Now run by Olivier Halley and his family, the estate oversees a vast vineyard spanning 65 to 67 hectares. Combining respect for tradition with environmental innovation, the estate has been certified organic since 2022. Thanks to major investments in its infrastructure and a meticulous approach, Domaine du Château de Meursault perfectly illustrates the richness and diversity of Burgundy's terroirs.

The Vineyard

This wine comes from "Clos des Grands Charrons", a 0.85-hectare plot held as a monopole. Located on the eastern and south-eastern slopes of the village of Meursault, midway up the hillside, this terroir enjoys ideal sun exposure. The vines flourish on hard, well-drained Jurassic limestone soils. The entire vineyard is farmed organically, with meticulous manual work, an agroforestry approach to encourage biodiversity, and personalised monitoring whereby each plot is entrusted to the same vine grower throughout the year.

The Vintage

This year's conditions allowed the grapes to reach excellent ripeness while preserving lovely natural acidity, offering an ideal balance throughout the growing cycle.

Winemaking and Aging

Following manual harvesting in small twenty-kilogram crates allowing for careful selection, the Meursault Village "Clos des Grands Charrons" Monopole 2022 undergoes meticulous winemaking. Ageing takes place in oak, with a careful selection of oak barrels, accompanied by lees ageing enriched by the bâtonnage technique to bring greater complexity.
