Characteristics and tasting notes of La Comtesse 2024 from Domaine Laporte
Tasting notes
Appearance
With a beautiful pale hue, this wine shows a bright, radiant character.
Nose
The nose opens with delicate aromas of white-fleshed fruits such as pear, citrus and exotic fruits. This fruity palette is subtly enhanced by notes of white flowers and a mineral touch reminiscent of gunflint.
Palate
On the palate, the wine reveals a beautiful fruity roundness perfectly balanced by great freshness and mineral tension. The finish is long and persistent, marked by refreshing, minty notes.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs beautifully with seafood, shellfish, raw or smoked fish, as well as poultry and asparagus. It also matches wonderfully with goat cheeses, particularly the famous Crottin de Chavignol.
Serving and aging
To fully enjoy this Sancerre Blanc 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 8 and 12°C, after a light aeration of around ten minutes. It can be enjoyed now or cellared until around 2029.
The purity and mineral tension of a Sancerre white wine from Domaine Laporte
The estate
Founded in 1850 at the foot of the Sancerre hill, Domaine Laporte is a true gateway to the appellation, located along the banks of the Loire. Historically shaped by the figure of René Laporte, a pioneer of low yields, the estate was acquired in 1986 by the Bourgeois family. Today, Arnaud and Cédric Bourgeois, the current owners and managers, oversee this 21-hectare vineyard. Renowned for its exacting standards, Domaine Laporte stands out for its parcel-by-parcel approach and its deep commitment to the authentic expression of its terroirs.
The vineyard
The vines of this Sancerre flourish across a mosaic of terroirs, ranging from the famous flint soils of Saint-Satur to the chalky, clay-limestone slopes of Chavignol, as well as clay-rich soils dotted with stones. The entire vineyard is farmed with rigour and has been certified organic since the 2013 vintage, favouring controlled yields that concentrate the quality of the berries.
Winemaking and aging
This Sancerre Blanc 2024 is vinified on a parcel-by-parcel basis to preserve its aromatic purity. After gentle pressing and cold settling, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks between 18 and 20°C. To retain its full tension, no malolactic fermentation is carried out. This Sancerre white wine is then aged on fine lees until bottling, giving it richness and complexity.
Grape variety
100% Sauvignon Blanc.
