A Chablis grand cru from an exceptional terroir
The estate
A benchmark name in Chablis, Burgundy, Domaine Laroche is distinguished in particular by a singular historical heritage dating back to the 9th century. Part of the Advini group since 2009, Domaine Laroche is renowned for the precision, elegance and aromatic richness of its wines, which authentically express the subtlety of the Chablis climats.
The vineyard
This unique terroir, located on the eastern side of the grand cru hillside, is distinguished by its soil rich in Kimmeridgian limestone and white clays dotted with seashells, reflecting a rich geological history. Covering 12.7 hectares, 4.56 of which are farmed by Domaine Laroche, its east/south-east orientation limits sun exposure to the morning hours, significantly influencing the microclimate and the ripening of the grapes. These particular conditions give rise to wines of exceptional complexity and balance.
The vintage
The 2021 vintage in Chablis, marked by challenging climatic conditions such as early frosts and changeable weather, resulted in limited production. Nevertheless, the year promises exceptional wines with rich aromatic concentration and pronounced acidity.
Winemaking and ageing
La Réserve de l'Obédience captures the very essence of its terroir through a meticulous process in which each plot is harvested and sorted by hand, then vinified and aged separately in barrels or vats, according to its unique characteristics. Only the finest lots are selected for the final blend, with the aim of creating a wine that faithfully expresses its terroir while aspiring to the ideal of a great white wine.
