The estate
Founded in 1946 by Étienne Guigal in Ampuis, the E. Guigal house has become an emblematic figure of the Rhone vineyard. His son Marcel took over in 1961 and later passed on to the third generation, always guided by demand and passion.
Located in the north of the Rhone Valley, the estate stands out for its meticulous work on a wide variety of appellations: côte-rôtie, condrieu, hermitage, châteauneuf-du-pape, saint-joseph or crozes-hermitage.
In 1995, the acquisition of the prestigious Château d'Ampuis marked a turning point, followed by the integration of other major properties such as Domaine de Vallouit, Jean-Louis Grippat or Château de Nalys.
Three exceptional cuvées signed E. Guigal
La Landonne is an icon of the Côte-Rôtie, made from vines about 40 years old, planted on steep terraces with soils rich in iron oxides. This 100% syrah of great depth seduces with its dark color, its intense nose of black fruits, leather and spices, and its powerful palate carried by dense and racy tannins. Carefully vinified and aged 40 months in new barrels, it embodies the nobility and complexity of the great Rhone red wines.
La Mouline is an emblematic cuvée, from an exceptional amphitheater terroir and old vines planted on siliceous and limestone soils. This wine seduces with its ruby color with vermilion reflections, its subtle nose mixing red fruits, blackberries and violet, as well as its elegant palate, both supple, refined and perfectly balanced. Composed of syrah and viognier, it is aged 40 months in new barrels, revealing all the finesse and complexity of a great Rhone Valley wine.
La Turque embodies all the power and finesse of a great Côte-Rôtie wine, made from vines planted on silico-limestone soils rich in iron oxides. Its deep ruby color announces an intense and fruity nose, while the palate, supple on the attack, seduces with its balance between concentration and elegance. Composed of syrah and viognier, this wine is aged 40 months in new barrels, revealing a precise and racy expression of its terroir.
