Description

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the 2021 Les Cornuds Cuvée from Famille Perrin

Tasting

Color
The color displays an intense, luminous and deep red hue, underlining the wine's concentration.

Nose
The bouquet seduces with its aromatic richness, centered around generous dark fruit notes, led by blackberry and blackcurrant.

Palate
On the palate, the wine stands out for its harmony and complexity, supported by well-controlled freshness. The long, savory finish extends the sensations with persistent fresh fruit aromas.

Service and Cellaring

For optimal enjoyment, serve at 18°C without prior decanting. This wine can rest in the cellar until around 2027.

A Great Rhône Valley Wine Combining Liveliness and Aromatic Richness

The Estate

True to artisanal viticulture, respectful of the terroir and nature, Famille Perrin has established itself over the vintages as one of the leading names in the Rhône Valley. Pioneers in the adoption of organic farming as early as 1950, then biodynamics in 1974, the Perrins craft wines of great elegance, acclaimed internationally for their quality and finesse.

The Wine

The Les Cornuds cuvée from Famille Perrin comes from the Vinsobres appellation, located about twenty kilometers north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The family cultivates a single 60-hectare vineyard, divided between terraces and hillsides. This terroir, the northernmost crus of the southern Rhône Valley, rests on a complex soil: stony and sandy marl on the slopes, stony Quaternary alluvium on the terraces, offering the wines richness, freshness and balance.

The Vintage

The 2022 vintage was marked by contrasting climatic conditions, with a dry winter and spring followed by a hot summer, but timely rains in mid-August promoted a progressive ripening of the grapes. Despite heterogeneous yields depending on the plots, the sanitary quality was excellent.

Winemaking and Aging

Hand-harvested, the grapes are sorted, destemmed and vinified by plot. Syrahs undergo fermentation in concrete vats and barrels, while grenaches ferment in concrete vats, accompanied by punchdowns or pump-overs. Malolactic fermentation is followed by blending.
