The estate
Founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, the Jean Chartron estate is a true institution in Burgundy. Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, this illustrious family house tends a vineyard of around 14.5 hectares. Today, the fifth generation, represented by siblings Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron, runs the estate with passion. While Anne-Laure oversees the viticulture, Jean-Michel is in charge of winemaking. Renowned for its prestigious plots, the estate stands out for its environmental commitment and for producing great white wines that faithfully reflect their exceptional terroirs.
The vineyard
This wine comes from an exceptional plot within the Chevalier-Montrachet appellation. Acquired in 1917, this walled clos is a monopole owned exclusively by the family. Set on sloping clay-limestone soils, the terroir benefits from ideal natural drainage. The vines, averaging around 40 years old, have been farmed according to organic principles, without certification, since 2014. Meticulous soil work and rigorous manual interventions ensure controlled yields and grapes of optimal quality.
The vintage
Local winegrowers hail 2025 as a vintage of balance and elegance. The weather conditions produced berries combining fine concentration with remarkable freshness, yielding juices of great precision despite the challenges posed by global warming.
Winemaking and ageing
The making of this Chevalier-Montrachet relies on a meticulous process. Fermentation and ageing take place in oak barrels, around 40% of which are new, the rest being one to five years old. The wine then rests on its fine lees for 14 months before completing its maturation with 4 months in tank to bring harmony to the whole before bottling.
Grape variety
100% Chardonnay.
