Description

The freshness and aromatic structure of a Burgundy white Premier Cru

The Estate

Founded in 1797 by Jean Latour in Aloxe-Corton, Maison Louis Latour today represents the largest Grand Cru domain in the Côte d'Or in Burgundy. This independent family business, run by the Latour family who continue the tradition of passing down the name Louis through generations, cultivates prestigious parcels such as Corton Grèves and Corton Bressandes. Descending from a lineage of coopers established since 1731, it combines ancestral traditions and modernity on its exceptional Côte de Beaune terroirs.

The Vineyard

The “Les Chalumeaux” climat is located near the “Truffières”, almost at the top of the Puligny-Montrachet hill. This exceptional terroir benefits from a southeast exposure on limestone and marly soils. The vines, averaging 35 years old, root in a subsoil of limestone and scree, yielding a controlled production of 40 hectoliters per hectare. The name of the climat probably originates from the Chalumeau family.

Vinification and Aging

Hand harvesting is followed by traditional barrel vinification with full malolactic fermentation. Aging takes place over 8 to 10 months in medium-toast French oak barrels, 40% of which are new barrels from the Louis Latour cooperage.

Grape Varietal

This Louis Latour Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru “Les Chalumeaux” 2022 is 100% Chardonnay.
