Description
A rich and balanced Crozes-Hermitage wine
The estate
An iconic name among the great wines of the Northern Rhône Valley, the Maison Paul Jaboulet-Aîné was founded in 1834 in Tain L’Hermitage. The renowned oenologist and winemaker Caroline Frey runs this illustrious house, owned by the Frey family since 2006. Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné oversees a vineyard of 125 hectares, spread across exceptional appellations such as Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise.
The Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage vineyards have been managed biodynamically since 2017.
The vineyard
The oldest estate in the appellation, the Domaine de Thalabert has been owned by Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné since 1834. Covering 45 hectares and located on the lower terraces of the Rhône on a stony, limestone-based soil, this terroir with vines aged 40 to 60 years yields a great Crozes-Hermitage wine.
The vintage
The 2021 vintage was characterized by favorable weather conditions, resulting in healthy grapes at optimal maturity. This vintage promises well-balanced wines with beautiful aromatic expression and good aging potential.
Winemaking and aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes are sorted in the vineyard. Maceration lasts approximately 4 weeks with gentle extractions. Aging is carried out in French oak barrels.
Grape variety
Syrah (100%)
Cellaring
This Crozes-Hermitage wine can be cellared until 2040.
