The refinement and indulgence of one of the world’s most malt-forward Islay Scotch whiskies
Octomore: the brand that pushes the boundaries of peating
Created in 2008 at the Bruichladdich distillery by Master Distiller Jim McEwan and Mark Reynier, Octomore is a revolutionary Islay Scotch whisky. Now owned by Rémy Cointreau, it holds the world record for the most peated whisky with levels exceeding 200 ppm. Its name comes from a historic farm located near Port Charlotte. Octomore uses a unique numbering system (.1, .2, .3, .4) to distinguish barley types and maturation. Produced in limited editions since 2008, it combines extreme peated intensity with remarkable aromatic complexity.
Edition 14.3: the pure expression of Islay’s terroir
The Octomore Edition 14.3 perfectly illustrates the brand’s philosophy by using 100% Scottish barley (Concerto) grown on the Octomore farm and harvested in 2016, located less than three kilometers from the distillery on the island of Islay. This geographical proximity ensures the authenticity of the terroir in every bottle.
Maturation takes place over five years in a balanced combination: 50% used first-fill American whisky casks and 50% second-fill wine casks. This subtle maturation preserves the unique qualities of Islay barley while adding further complexity. Produced in a very limited edition, this expression cements Octomore’s exceptional status in the world of peated whiskies.
