An Exceptional Tawny Porto from the Douro Valley
Taylor's: Three Centuries of Excellence in the Douro
Founded in 1692, Taylor's remains one of the oldest independent, family-owned Porto houses. Based in the Douro region, it owns three A-listed quintas: Vargellas, Terra Feita and Junco. The estate, of English origin, carries on a centuries-old expertise in the crafting of Portos. Taylor's stands out for its traditional aging methods in oak casks and its production of exceptional tawny Portos. Its vineyards in Cima Corgo and Douro Superior form the foundation of its style, combining elegance and aromatic complexity. The house enjoys international recognition for the outstanding quality of its tawny Portos.
The Art of Aging the 10 Year Old Tawny
Taylor's 10 Year Old Tawny is the result of a meticulous blend of selected red Portos from the prestigious terroirs of Cima Corgo and Douro Superior, followed by an average aging period of 10 years in oak casks, allowing for a slow, controlled evolution. This process gradually transforms the initial purple-black color to the characterful tawny hue while developing complex aromas of ripe fruits, nuts and delicate spices.
Taylor's masters this art of aging to perfection, creating a Porto with delicate woody notes and aromas of mature fruits. This 10 Year Old Tawny embodies the excellence of the Portuguese tradition, recognized by numerous international awards including 92 points from Wine Spectator and a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge.
