Power meets freshness in a red wine from the Rhône Valley
The estate
An exceptional winemaker, Xavier Vignon has been regarded as one of the leading specialists of the Southern Rhône Valley for more than twenty years. Each Xavier Vignon cuvée faithfully reflects his desire to reveal the identity of the great Rhône terroirs, while also bearing a distinctive identity of its own: the Xavier Vignon identity. His exclusive creations showcase the full extent of his creativity, as exemplified by the Arcane collection, which promises wine lovers an extraordinary sensory and tasting experience.
The vineyard
Distinctive for its vineyards set in a natural amphitheatre, the Cornas appellation reveals a powerful yet refined expression through the Back Vintages crafted by Xavier Vignon. This 2001 vintage comes from vineyards planted on shallow granite soils containing potassium, iron and magnesium.
Vinification and ageing
The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified as whole bunches. A long maceration promotes concentration and an intense colour. Extended ageing in both new and old foudres.
Grape variety
Syrah (100%).
