The perfume pops with notes of flowers, crushed raspberries, sweet cherries, plums, chocolate, and a touch of espresso beans. On the palate, the wine is soft, plush, elegant, and creamy. The texture, vibrancy, and purity of the fruits, along with a touch of crushed stones, stand out. With just 1-2 years in the bottle, this is going to offer stellar drinking for decades. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with 14.5% ABV. Harvesting took place September 19 - September 26. Yields were 27 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2060. 96-98 Pts

This is right up there at the top of the vintage, there is still the roasted plum aspect of Tertre Roteboeuf but you feel the juice and salinity of the vintage running through it. These guys stick to their beliefs and their style, and we are all the better for it. 14, 3.8ph. September 23, earlier than usual. 100% new oak.

Vinum

What a bouquet: pronounced toasty notes, oak spice over ripe, dark cherry fruit, then plum, blackcurrant, dark chocolate and citrus nuances; on the palate, powerful and structured, immensely intense yet elegant; the tannins are assertive and of very high quality; opulent without ever feeling heavy, with a highly aromatic finish of blackberry jam and bitter orange. A monumental wine in the house’s signature style.

Description

An ample and precise Saint-Émilion wine

The estate

The roots of Château Tertre Roteboeuf date back to 1675, when Arnaud Ducasse acquired an estate in Saint-Laurent-des-Combes, within the Saint-Émilion appellation. Brought back to prominence in the late 1970s by François Mitjavile, this vineyard on the right bank of Bordeaux covers 6 hectares laid out in the shape of an amphitheatre. A family affair led by François and Miloute Mitjavile, joined by their children Louis and Nina, it stands out for its singular approach to viticulture: vines pruned very close to the ground, natural grass cover, late harvests and a pure winemaking process, without the use of exogenous yeasts.

The vineyard

The Château Tertre Roteboeuf vineyard enjoys a remarkable exposure in the southern part of the Saint-Émilion appellation. Its 6 hectares of vines are arranged in an amphitheatre on clay-limestone terroirs characteristic of the southern slope of Saint-Émilion. The microclimate specific to this plot brings singular complexity and depth to the wines produced.

Grape varieties

This Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2025 is the result of a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
