Nose
The nose opens with delicate smoke, accompanied by toasted rye and a spiced apple.

Palate
The attack is smoky and supported by a mineral framework, with the sweetness of the grain. Blackberry then emerges, lifted by a hint of menthol. The finish is lingering, with smoke and grain sweetness, along with a delicate minty freshness.

Other characteristics

This rye whisky is smoky: the malted rye is treated with alder wood and peat. It is bottled at 46.6% ABV, in a 70 cl bottle, and carries no age statement.

Kyrö, a Finnish rye whisky distillery in Isokyrö

Founded in 2012 in Isokyrö, Finland, Kyrö Distillery Company was born from an evening in the sauna among five friends: Miika Lipiäinen, Mikko Koskinen, Kalle Valkonen, Miko Heinilä and Jouni Ritola. They realised at the time that no Finnish distillery was producing rye whisky. Housed in a former dairy built in the early 1900s on the banks of the Kyrö River, it carried out its first distillations in 2014. Its "all-rye" and grain-to-glass philosophy is built on Finnish rye, for its whiskies as well as for its Napue gin. Kalle Valkonen is the head of distillation. Committed to sustainability, with 99% renewable energy, the distillery remains majority-owned by its founders. Jouni Ritola was its managing director at the time of the 2023 fundraising round.

The Game of Thrones Whisky of Fire Limited Edition is a whisky born from a partnership between Kyrö and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products. It is inspired by House Targaryen and its motto "Fire and Blood". It is offered as a limited edition, released in 2026, alongside its counterpart, Whisky of Blood.

This Finnish rye whisky is crafted from malted rye entirely smoked with alder wood and peat. It is matured in bourbon casks and new American oak casks, then finished in rum casks.
