This is a peated whisky: the malted rye is smoked over peat. The smoke remains delicate on the nose and becomes more generous on the palate. This rye whisky is bottled at 50.7% ABV, in a 70 cl format. It is limited to 3,924 numbered bottles.

Kyrö Distillery Company, a leading name in Finnish rye whisky

Kyrö Distillery Company was born in a sauna. Five friends were sharing a bottle of American rye there and were surprised that no one was distilling rye, a pillar of the Finnish diet. Registered in 2012 in Isokyrö, the distillery moved into a former dairy built in 1908, on the banks of the Kyrö River. It began commercial production in 2014. It uses only whole Finnish rye, including for its gin, and distils its whisky in pot stills. This Finnish whisky thus asserts a strong "all-rye" identity. Kyrö was founded by Miika Lipiäinen, Mikko Koskinen, Kalle Valkonen, Miko Heinilä and Jouni Ritola. The latter is the CEO, and Kalle Valkonen is the master distiller.

Sauna Stories N°3: a peated rye whisky, finished in Monbazillac casks and in a sauna

This Sauna Stories N°3 Monbazillac Cask Limited Edition is a Finnish rye whisky, made from 100% malted whole Finnish rye. This third edition of the series is the first peated expression: the rye is smoked over peat.

The distillate is produced in a pot still. It first ages in ex-bourbon casks, then is finished in French oak casks that previously held Monbazillac. This finish brings elegant sweetness and depth to the peat smoke.

The signature of the series lies in its sauna finish. The casks complete their maturation there, in the heat of a genuine Finnish sauna. Excess steam from the distillation brings them to approximately 50°C.

This whisky is presented in a 70 cl bottle, at 50.7% ABV.
