The estate
Jo Landron, an iconic winemaker from the Nantes area, is renowned for his respectful approach to the vine and the environment. His estate stands out for its biodynamic viticultural practices and a philosophy focused on showcasing the terroir. Loire wines bearing the Jo Landron signature are prized for their purity and precision, reflecting the richness of their terroir and the care devoted to every stage of their production.
The vineyard
This wine comes from the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation, rooted in a mosaic of gravel, clay, and sandy soils that lend finesse and minerality to the wine. The unique terroir of this vineyard rests on soils composed of orthogneiss and quartz, geological formations resulting from the metamorphism of granite. These mineral-rich rocks give the wines a distinctive personality, with an elegant minerality and a refined structure.
Winemaking and aging
The harvest, carried out entirely by hand, ensures careful selection of the bunches, which are then pressed directly and gently using pneumatic pressing, with no destemming or settling. Alcoholic fermentation, lasting 2 to 3 weeks, proceeds naturally with indigenous yeasts, preserving the authenticity of the terroir’s aromas. Aging then takes place in glass-lined concrete vats, a choice that encourages controlled micro-oxygenation. This wine benefits from extended aging on the lees, for 24 to 36 months, giving its texture fine complexity and exceptional aromatic depth.
Food and wine pairings
This Loire wine pairs ideally with pan-seared scallops, fish, white meats, sweetbreads, veal chop, as well as cheeses or exotic cuisine.
