Delamotte : Brut

Quite mature in character, this brut has nutty, earthy aromas and flavors, a soft mousse and a rather simple finish. Drink now.

Powerful bread-dough and citrus aromas. Full-bodied and a little rough, with pronounced raspberry flavors. Crisp and clean, but a rather aggressive mousse at this point; 49% Chardonnay and 51% Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Ripe, forward and nicely structured. Nectarine and yellow fruit flavors combined with brisk acidity.

A very creamy and delicious Champagne with toasted and dried-apple notes. Strawberry as well. It’s medium-bodied with a lovely, polished, and creamy texture. 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, and 10% Pinot Meunier. 3 years in the bottle. 7.5 g/L dosage. Drink now.

Subtle aroma of baking spices. Frothy, ripe and easygoing, with supple flavors of pear, apple and spice and a slight dry edge. Finishes with moderate length and a hint of alcoholic dryness.

Light golden colour. The nose is discreet with notes of roasted nuts, citrus and green fruit. The palate is well balanced in a lighter style, firm and elegant with young fruit, some roasted notes on the finish, fairly long, attractive and enjoyable.

A silver straw color, the NV Champagne Brut is based on 2019, composed mostly (60%) of Chardonnay along with 35% Pinot Noir and a small amount of Meunier. Forward in the glass, it shows lovely intensity on opening, with wonderfully pure aromas of white peaches, delicate flinty reduction with a kiss of smoke, fresh flowers, and preserved lime cordial. Medium-bodied, it retains its energy and intensity on the palate, with a ripe core and bright, electric energy. It has a good deal of density as well as a peppery, zesty mousse, with an elegantly rounded, fresh mid-palate and a hint of bitter almond on the finish. This is a superb entry-level wine to start the range. I would snap this up for by-the-glass programs and would be thrilled to drink it over the next several years. Dosage 8 grams per liter.

a rather muted aromatic palette, the wine struggles to reveal its white fruit, a locked-down universe, cold and metallic. The palate shows marked Chardonnay character, the dosage sticks slightly to the mid-palate, making the wine comfortable. The bubbles re-emerge on the finish with final bitters. It's an offbeat wine.
