The estate
Founded in 1930, Domaine Michel Redde & Fils is part of a family tradition dating back to 1630. Based in Pouilly-sur-Loire and Saint-Andelain in the Loire Valley, the estate stands out for owning vineyards across five different Pouilly-Fumé terroirs, a rarity within the appellation. Now led by Sébastien and Romain Redde, the estate continues eight generations of winemaking expertise and practices sustainable viticulture.
The vineyard
The single-vineyard site Les Cornets is located in the commune of Pouilly-sur-Loire, along the old Roman road. The terroir is made up of Upper Jurassic Kimmeridgian marl, also known as "terres blanches". The 30-year-old vines produce controlled yields of 40 to 45 hl/ha. Harvesting is done by hand in 10 to 12 kg crates, ensuring a strict selection of the grapes.
Winemaking and aging
Blanc Fumé de Pouilly "Les Cornets" is vinified and aged in large wooden casks and demi-muids. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature between 18 and 20°C. This Loire wine then benefits from extended aging of 16 to 18 months on fine lees, allowing its aromatic complexity and texture to develop.
Grape variety
This Pouilly-Fumé is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
