A Saint-Joseph from the Northern Rhône Valley combining controlled power and aromatic finesse
The estate
Founded in 1999, the House Xavier Vignon has established itself as a key reference in the Rhône Valley. As a consulting oenologist turned merchant and producer, Xavier Vignon today manages 30 hectares of vines, covering all southern appellations of the Rhône, with a preference for Châteauneuf-du-Pape. His trademark lies in the art of blending, inspired by Champagne methods, systematically marrying more than twenty different origins. His bold maturation techniques, including specifically the immersion of barrels in tanks, testify to a decidedly innovative approach, combining southern power with exceptional freshness.
The vineyard
This Saint-Joseph comes from plots in the northern part of the Rhône Valley. The vines thrive mainly on granite soils on steep slopes. This particular configuration gives the wine the minerality and elegance characteristic of the appellation.
Winemaking and aging
Harvest is carried out manually. The Saint-Joseph 2023 benefits from maceration and fermentation in open tanks for 18 days, with punching down twice daily. The aging of this Rhône Valley wine follows for 15 months in barrels, of which 15% new barrels.
Grape variety
This wine is produced exclusively from Syrah.
