Description
Characteristics and tasting notes of Miraval Blanc 2024
Tasting
Appearance
The glass reveals a bright pale yellow hue, delicately enhanced by silvery reflections.
Nose
The nose opens with seductive aromas of lemony white peach, before revealing subtle and delicate notes of white flowers as it aerates.
Palate
The attack is fresh and delicate. The palate offers a beautiful balance around flavours of crisp green apple and tangy notes reminiscent of the terroir's minerality. The texture is enveloping thanks to the work on the lees, leading to a long finish marked by a saline and iodised touch.
Food and wine pairing
This white wine pairs ideally with seafood such as oysters, grilled prawns or scallops, as well as simply prepared fish such as sole or sea bass. It also goes very well with grilled vegetables or light summer salads.
Serving and cellaring
To fully appreciate the Miraval Blanc 2024, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 10 and 15°C in classic white wine glasses. This wine can be enjoyed now and will continue to evolve until around 2028.
The freshness and mineral expression of a white wine from Provence
The estate
Located in the heart of Provence, Château Miraval boasts a rich history, with its monumental cellar built in 1850. Famous for having housed a legendary recording studio from 1977 onwards, the estate took a major qualitative turn in the 2010s. Today, the property is owned by Brad Pitt, majority shareholder, and Yuri Shefler, with technical management entrusted to the renowned Perrin Family. The Miraval vineyard stands out for its strong environmental commitment, being part of the first fully organic village in France, producing wines internationally recognised for their elegance.
The vineyard
Nestled in a private valley in Correns, the terroir from which this wine originates benefits from a preserved environment, typical of the Côtes de Provence region. The vines grow on gentle slopes between 350 and 1,200 metres in altitude. The soils, composed of clay, Keuper marl and limestone, give the wine a unique mineral identity. The Mediterranean climate is tempered by cool nights brought by the mistral, fostering a viticulture that is fully certified organic, without any synthetic chemical products, and irrigated by a system of aqueducts dating back to Roman times.
The vintage
The year 2024 was marked by contrasting weather conditions. After a dry winter, the spring proved particularly wet, with episodes of hail and strong mildew pressure. The summer then brought intense heat, with extreme temperature peaks in August. These conditions led to an early harvest and lower yields, but allowed for slow ripening of the berries, ensuring a beautiful concentration and a perfectly preserved natural acidity.
Vinification and ageing
The harvest of Miraval Blanc 2024 is carried out exclusively by hand during the coolest hours of the morning. After a double sorting, the grapes undergo a gentle gravity pressing, without the use of pumps. Fermentation takes place 95% in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, while 5% of the juice is vinified in wood. The ageing process stands out for the use of ovoid-shaped concrete tanks, creating a natural convection movement that keeps the lees in suspension, thereby bringing texture and body to the wine without mechanical intervention.
