Description

Characteristics and Tasting Notes of the Rosé Vintage 2010

Tasting

Appearance
This wine reveals a luminous pastel pink hue.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with ripe fruits showing tropical nuances and red berries, accompanied by hints of quince and chocolate. Subtle fresh notes of green apple, peach and iodine intertwine with sweet spices such as vanilla and cardamom. With aeration, aromas of warm bread, orange oil and a delicate smoky touch enrich this complex palette.

Palate
The attack is striking in its precision. The substance proves delicate, dense and silky, offering a fullness that coats the palate. A fine effervescence accompanies a slightly grainy texture, underlined by a zesty, iodine-tinged bitterness. The long, majestic finish stretches out on a characteristic saline minerality.

Food and wine pairings
This cuvée pairs wonderfully with seafood such as oysters or sea urchins, as well as with white meats, pork belly or lightly spiced dishes. Its toasted notes also allow it to elevate dishes with subtly caramelised or herbaceous accents.

Serving and cellaring
The Rosé Vintage 2010 has excellent ageing potential and can be enjoyed until around 2035.

An intense and harmonious rosé champagne crafted by Dom Pérignon

The estate
The Champagne Dom Pérignon House owes its name to the famous monk and procurator of the Abbey of Hautvillers in 1668, Pierre Pérignon, known as Dom Pérignon. According to legend, Pierre Pérignon discovered what is now known as the méthode champenoise. Dom Pérignon is a radiant Champagne house that draws its inspiration directly from the philosophy of its founder, rooted in the pursuit of ultimate perfection in champagne wine.

The vineyard
The estate benefits from privileged access to approximately 1,200 hectares of vineyards across Champagne, half of which are classified as Grand Cru and Premier Cru. The chalky, limestone soils typical of the region give the grapes a remarkable minerality. In response to climate challenges, viticulture is moving towards sustainable practices, incorporating pheromone-based pest control, the use of electric tractors and a gradual conversion to organic farming to preserve biodiversity.

The cuvée
Dom Pérignon Rosé embodies the House's determination to challenge itself, vintage after vintage. After nearly fifteen years of cellar maturation, this Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2010 fits perfectly into this logic of reinvention. Since the 2000s, the creative aim has been to achieve greater depth and harmony. This accomplished vintage crowns ten years of adjustments and evolution in production methods, designed to strengthen the presence of pinot noir in the expression of the Rosé.

The vintage
The year 2010 began with cold temperatures, followed by a particularly dry summer period. In mid-August, significant rainfall arrived, leading to the development of botrytis on the pinot noir. Extremely rigorous selection during the harvest was necessary to obtain grapes offering a balance rich in contrasts.

Vinification and ageing
The Rosé champagne Vintage 2010 is the result of an extended cellar maturation of nearly twelve years. This long ageing on the lees allows great aromatic complexity to develop, refines the texture and shapes the deep identity of this cuvée before disgorgement.

Grape varieties
The blend is composed of 55% pinot noir (including 11% red wine) and 45% chardonnay.
