Description
A Red wine from Pessac-Léognan, elegant and complex
The estate
Founded in 1755 by Jean Laclotte, the Château Picque Caillou is located at the gates of Bordeaux, in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Managed since the 1990s by Paulin and Isabelle Calvet, the estate stands out for its graves günziennes terroir, ideal for the production of White wines known for their minerality and freshness, as well as balanced Red wines. Despite increasing urbanization, it remains one of the last viticultural bastions in the region, with a strong environmental commitment.
The vineyard
The Château Picque Caillou 2024 comes from a 19-hectare vineyard located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The vines flourish on a graves günziennes soil, an emblematic terroir of the Bordeaux region, offering excellent drainage and optimal heat reflection to promote grape ripening.
Winemaking and aging
Aged for one year in barrels, with a precise distribution: 30% new barrels, 35% barrels used once, and 35% barrels used twice.
Blend
This Château Picque Caillou Rouge 2024 comprises a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot.
