Tasting

The palate offers a lovely balance between density and freshness. With good length, it displays measured oaky notes and a structure with supple, elegant tannins that will refine with time.
Food and Wine Pairing
This red wine pairs beautifully with grilled or sauced red meats, herb-roasted poultry, feathered game or braised lamb. It also goes wonderfully with washed-rind cheeses.

The Balance and Freshness of a Red Wine from Aloxe-Corton
The Estate
The history of the Domaine du Château de Meursault, located in Burgundy, dates back to the 11th century. Following major restoration work begun in the 1970s, the estate was acquired in 2012 by the Halley family, its current owner. Now managed by Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, the estate spans 67 hectares of vines spread across the Côte de Beaune. Deeply committed to environmental preservation, the estate is certified organic and stands out for its agroecological initiatives, such as the creation of food forests to promote biodiversity.
The Vineyard
The "Les Maréchaudes" climat, located within the Aloxe-Corton appellation, covers a small plot of 70 ares. The vines are planted at the base of the slope on clay-limestone soils, benefiting from an ideal east-southeast exposure that ensures steady ripening of the grapes while preserving their natural freshness.
The Vintage
The year 2023 stood out for particularly warm weather conditions, leading to a very early harvest starting in August. Following a start to summer marked by water stress and heat spikes, the estate's biodiversity reserves helped moderate temperatures in the vineyards, promoting balanced berry ripening.
Winemaking and Aging
For this Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru "Les Maréchaudes" 2023, the hand-harvested and sorted grapes are fully destemmed and then subjected to optical sorting. A cold pre-fermentation maceration of 15 to 18 days precedes an alcoholic fermentation punctuated by punching-down and pumping-over. The wine is then aged for 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels (35% new, 30% one-wine and 35% two-wine).
Grape Variety
100% Pinot Noir.
