Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Pernand-Vergelesses Village 2022 Jean Chartron
Tasting
Colour
The colour reveals a shade of white gold to pale yellow, with great clarity, which will tend toward deep golden reflections over the years.
Nose
The aromatic bouquet opens with delicate notes of white flowers such as acacia and hawthorn. With aeration, it reveals touches of dried fruit and toasted almond, which will be enriched with nuances of honey, pear and sweet spices over time.
Palate
The palate stands out for its mineral, saline structure, carried by lovely vibrancy. Flavours of fresh citrus and white-fleshed fruit unfold with elegance. The texture is fluid and harmonious, leading to a persistent finish of great crystalline precision.
Food and Wine Pairing
This white wine pairs beautifully with delicate seafood such as oysters or mussels, as well as with freshwater fish in a beurre blanc sauce. It will also perfectly accompany white meats in creamy sauces, mature cheeses or, more adventurously, sushi.
Service and Storage
This Pernand-Vergelesses Village 2022 will reveal its full complexity after a few years in the cellar and is best enjoyed until around 2030.
The Crystalline Expression of a White Wine from Pernand-Vergelesses by Jean Chartron
The Estate
Founded in 1859 by Jean-Edouard Dupard, the Domaine Jean Chartron is a true institution located in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, in Burgundy. Spanning 14.5 hectares, this historic estate is now run by the fifth generation, embodied by Jean-Michel and Anne-Laure Chartron. Complementary to one another, they carry on a family expertise focused on respect for the terroir and the environment, certified Haute Valeur Environnementale. The estate is renowned for producing authentic, precise and crystalline wines that faithfully reflect the richness and diversity of Burgundy's finest climats.
The Vineyard
This wine comes mainly from the "Les Belles Filles" plot, ideally situated at the top of the east-facing slopes of the Pernand-Vergelesses appellation. The vines, aged 35 to 40 years, thrive on soils made up of white limestone marl and crushed stone. This unique terroir, cultivated according to the principles of sustainable farming without synthetic products, gives the grapes a remarkable mineral identity.
The Vintage
2022 stood out for record sunshine and particularly favourable weather conditions. After sufficient winter water reserves, the growing cycle benefited from a hot, dry summer. Harvesting began in late August under a favourable north wind, allowing grapes of excellent phenolic ripeness to be picked, offering a perfect balance between generosity and freshness.
Winemaking and Aging
The making of the Pernand-Vergelesses Village 2022 is based on a philosophy of minimal intervention. After gentle pressing, the very clear juices are vinified with limited lees extraction to preserve the purity of the fruit. The wine is then aged in the estate's climate-controlled cellars, in French oak barrels with a measured proportion of new wood, ensuring an authentic expression of the terroir.
