An outstanding Calvados born of rare know-how
The Roger Groult House, a family tradition in the Pays d'Auge
Founded in 1860 in Normandy, the Maison Roger Groult has perpetuated the art of Calvados Pays d'Auge for five generations. Established at Clos de la Hurvanière, the estate cultivates 27 hectares of apple trees and distills its eaux-de-vie on three wood-fired stills, following the traditional double-distillation method. Under the leadership of Estelle Groult, Chairwoman and CEO since 2022, supported by her sister Charlotte Groult, Deputy CEO, the family house ages its calvados in more than 350 French oak barrels. Named “World’s Best Calvados” at the World Drinks Awards 2019, Roger Groult embodies the excellence of Norman spirits crafted for connoisseurs.
Calvados Vénérable, the House of Groult’s signature cuvée
The Calvados Vénérable is the signature cuvée of the Maison Roger Groult. This perpetual blend brings together eaux-de-vie over 18 years old, crafted exclusively from cider apples from the Pays d'Auge. Traditional wood-fired double distillation gives this spirit a unique personality, marked by distinctive smoky notes. Extended aging in old French red oak barrels adds complexity and depth to this exceptional blend.
This cuvée was awarded “World’s Best Calvados” at the World Drinks Awards 2019 in London, an accolade that reflects the excellence of this frequently honored spirit. Calvados Vénérable is available in several formats: a 70 cl bottle with case, 150 cl in a wooden box, and a 250 cl jug, allowing everyone to choose the format best suited to their needs.
