The power and structure of a Douro Vintage Port
Taylor's, a global reference for Vintage Ports since 1692
Founded in 1692, Taylor's remains one of the most prestigious port houses in the Douro region of Portugal. Owned by several families linked to the historic founders since 1838, including the Yeatman family, it is today led by Adrian Bridge. The House owns exceptional quintas such as Vargellas and Terra Feita in the Duriense region. Taylor's stands out for its exceptional Vintage Ports, crafted using traditional methods in stone lagares. Its Vintage Ports, renowned for their outstanding longevity, embody the excellence of the Duriense terroir and are a global reference.
The Vintage Port 2003, a Blend of two exceptional quintas
Taylor's Vintage Port 2003 is born from the Blend of grapes from two quintas: Quinta de Vargellas and Quinta de Terra Feita, located about 30 kilometers apart in the Douro. This distance offers different microclimates that enrich the complexity of port. The year 2003 was marked by a very wet winter, a flowering under warm and sunny weather in late May, followed by intense heat in early August and beneficial rains in late August. The September harvest, under warm and dry conditions, produced consistent yields and grapes with remarkable color intensity, rich in tannins and with exceptional fruity power. This vintage was praised by international critics for its outstanding quality.
