The estate

An extraordinary winemaker, Xavier Vignon has been regarded as one of the great specialists for more than twenty years. Each of his cuvées faithfully expresses his desire to reveal the identity of great terroirs while bearing a distinctive signature of its own: the Xavier Vignon identity. His exclusive creations showcase his full creativity, as exemplified by the Arcane collection, which promises enthusiasts an incredible sensory and gustatory experience.

The vineyard

For the Arcane collection, the winemaker carefully selects his terroirs in order to explore their full potential. Arcane XV Le Diable 2015 comes from 17 different plots. Red clay, blue clay, rolled pebbles, Urgonian limestone and sand make up the geological mosaic of terroirs that gave birth to this wine.  

The wine

True to this embodiment of the forbidden and of all that defies understanding, this cuvée, produced as a Vin de France, breaks free from the appellation's specifications in order to freely magnify the intense, profound expression of Mourvèdre.

Winemaking and ageing

After the hand harvest with partial destemming, the berries are brought to the cellar. During the winemaking process, the terroirs are selected according to their mineral salt concentration. A cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out for 3 weeks to encourage the diffusion of aromatic compounds. Ageing takes place 30% in new Austrian oak barriques with a light toasting, and 70% in small concrete tanks.

Tasting

Colour
The almost black colour of Arcane XV Le Diable 2015 first captivates the eye.

Nose
The charm then continues with a nose reminiscent of the scents of garrigue herbs, unveiling an explosion of black fruit aromas, blackberry and blueberry.

Palate

The palate reveals a fine structure and a remarkably balanced tannic framework. The length of the finish extends into notes of liquorice and black fruit.

Cellaring

Ready to be enjoyed immediately, this incredible wine can still be kept until 2025.

Serving

For optimal enjoyment, serve between 15 and 17°C.
