Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Cuvée Anonyme 2023 by Xavier Vignon
Tasting
Colour
The Cuvée Anonyme 2023 shows a deep red hue, reflecting the blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah typical of the southern Rhône Valley.
Nose
The nose opens with notes of ripe red and black fruit, enhanced by touches of spice, a signature of the southern grape varieties that make up this wine.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is round and warming, supported by supple tannins and a pleasant freshness that balances the generosity of the fruit.
Food and Wine Pairing
This cuvée is an ideal match for fine poultry such as duck, pigeon or quail, particularly when prepared with mushrooms. It also pairs beautifully with dishes with woodland flavours, based on porcini or other mushrooms.
Serving and Cellaring
The Cuvée Anonyme 2023 is best enjoyed at a temperature between 14 and 16 °C.
A red Châteauneuf-du-Pape crafted by Xavier Vignon
The Estate
Founded in 2005 between Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Beaumes-de-Venise, the eponymous House of Xavier Vignon is run by its founder, a consulting oenologist. Set in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in the Rhône Valley, the estate cultivates around 35 hectares of vines. Its expert approach to terroirs and blends allows it to craft cuvées that remain true to the identity of the southern Rhône Valley.
The Vineyard
The Cuvée Anonyme 2023 comes from plots located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, within the Côtes du Rhône Méridionales, close to the Dentelles de Montmirail. Xavier Vignon cultivates Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah there, emblematic varieties of the southern Rhône Valley, chosen to express the typicity of this terroir.
Vinification and Ageing
The Cuvée Anonyme 2023 is crafted according to the low-intervention philosophy of Xavier Vignon, which favours hand-harvesting and deliberately limited sulphur additions, in order to preserve the natural expression of the fruit and the full typicity of the southern Rhône Valley grape varieties.
Grape Varieties
This wine is made from a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah, emblematic grape varieties of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
