The Estate
The Albert Bichot house, founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot in Monthélie, embodies six generations of Burgundian savoir-faire. Now under the leadership of Albéric Bichot, it brings together six estate-owned domaines spread across all of Bourgogne—from Chablis to Beaujolais—covering more than 100 hectares of vineyards, including 13 hectares of Grands Crus and 26 hectares of Premiers Crus. Based in Beaune, Albert Bichot stands out as the Beaune house offering the widest range of organic wines, combining respect for terroirs with environmental commitment.
The Vineyard
The climat Les Malconsorts is one of the jewels of the Vosne-Romanée appellation. Domaine du Clos Frantin owns 1.75 hectares of this exceptional terroir, located in a particularly sunny area and benefiting from an east-southeast exposure. The vines, averaging 35 to 40 years of age, thrive on limestone-rich rendzina soils. The climat’s geographic position is remarkable: it borders La Tâche directly and lies less than 400 meters from Romanée-Conti and less than 600 meters from Richebourg. The name "Malconsorts" originates from old legal disputes between co-owners—those “mauvais consorts” who once fought over these precious plots.
Vinification and Aging
The grapes for Vosne-Romanée 1er cru "Les Malconsorts" Dom. du Clos Frantin 2022 are harvested by hand and sorted upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation with maceration takes place in temperature-controlled wooden vats over 18 to 21 days. The wine then ages for 16 to 17 months in oak barrels, 35 to 40% of which are new, allowing it to develop complexity while preserving the expression of the terroir.
Grape Variety
This red wine from Burgundy is a 100% Pinot Noir.
