Tasting
Color

Nose
The bouquet is characterized by a particularly aromatic and fragrant expression. Red fruits dominate, accompanied by nuances of crushed stone, testifying to the terroir's minerality. Subtle notes of fresh tobacco develop gradually with aeration.
Palate
The attack reveals a medium-bodied wine, endowed with remarkable freshness and purity. The fine and refined tannin structure is supported by a distinct minerality, faithfully reflecting the sparse soils of Clos Sorbè. Concentrated black fruits are enriched by spicy nuances and a characteristic ferrous note. The poised and persistent finish builds gradually, offering remarkable length.
Food and wine pairings
This Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru pairs perfectly with grilled red meats, fine poultry in sauce, as well as characterful soft cheeses. Its elegant structure also makes it an ideal companion for dishes with wild mushrooms.
Service and storage

A Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru with immediate charm and exceptional aging potential
The estate
Located in the Côte de Nuits in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine des Lambrays was founded in 1868 following the reunification of Clos des Lambrays by Albert-Sébastien Rodier. Under the direction of oenologist Jacques Devauges since 2019, this Burgundy estate holds the quasi-monopoly of the Grand Cru Clos des Lambrays, considered the largest Clos in Burgundy. The luxury group LVMH acquired the estate in 2014 with the aim of ensuring its continuity, notably through high-precision plot work, organic farming certification and the ongoing conversion to biodynamics, but also through the renovation of the cellars and the acquisition of new plots in 2021.
The vineyard
Clos Sorbè covers a total of 3.3263 hectares, of which Domaine des Lambrays farms 1.2519 hectares. This exceptional terroir is located directly opposite the estate's buildings in Morey-Saint-Denis and rests on a limestone slab covered by red soil, contrasting with the brown soils of other plots. The vines, 50 years old on average, benefit from this specific geology, which gives the wine its distinctive minerality.
The vintage
The 2023 vintage began with early budburst on April 7, three days earlier than average. Flowering took place under excellent conditions around June 7, followed by beneficial rains that favored fruit set. The hot summer in July and August, punctuated by regular rainfall, allowed for optimal berry growth. A significant green harvest, carried out plot by plot at the end of July, made it possible to control yields. The harvest took place on September 14 in sunny weather, with a final yield of 48 hl/ha.
Winemaking and aging
The winemaking of this Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru "Clos Sorbè" 2023 is carried out entirely by gravity, with 50% whole bunches and the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation takes place over about three weeks in wooden vats. Aging extends over 16 months in oak barrels, 40% of which are new wood, allowing for a harmonious integration of the woody note.
Grape variety
100% Pinot Noir, the emblematic Burgundy grape variety.
