An authentic Romorantin from the winegrowing heritage of Domaine National de Chambord
The estate
Owned by the French state since 1930, Domaine National de Chambord is an exceptional cultural heritage site, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981. Located in the Sologne on the Loire, this 5,440-hectare estate is home to the largest château of the Loire, built from 1519 by Franz I. In 2015, the estate renewed its winegrowing tradition by replanting 14 hectares of vines, farmed under certified organic viticulture.
The vineyard
This Vin de France comes from north–south-facing vines planted on predominantly sandy soils with clay subsoils. Harvesting is carried out by hand each year at optimal ripeness.
Winemaking and aging
After hand-harvesting at optimal ripeness, Romorantin 2022 undergoes cold settling. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out at a low temperature to slow the process and highlight the primary aromas. Winemaking and aging take place entirely in stainless-steel tanks. No malolactic fermentation is carried out. The wine is made and matured at the Domaine de Chambord with no added artificial yeasts.
Grape variety
Romorantin (100%) is a historic and rare grape variety introduced by Franz I. in the Loire Valley. It gives the wine excellent aging potential as well as a unique aromatic complexity.
