On the palate, the wine shows a balanced structure, combining silky yet present tannins with lively acidity that shapes the palate. The texture remains fluid and harmonious, marked by pure fruit. The finish lingers elegantly, supported by a distinct minerality. The overall balance leans toward elegance and finesse.

An exceptional Bourgogne from century-old vines in Pommard

The estate

The Domaine Nicolas Rossignol was founded in 1997 by Nicolas Rossignol, a fifth-generation winegrower from Volnay in the Côte de Beaune. Starting with three hectares, the estate now spans around seventeen hectares across some thirty appellations, including Volnay, Pommard, Beaune, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses. Trained at the Beaune wine school and having completed internships at prestigious estates in France and abroad, Nicolas Rossignol has developed a winemaking philosophy focused on the pursuit of purity and the authentic expression of terroir. Recognized by international critics, he is regarded as one of the most talented winemakers of his generation in Burgundy.

The vineyard

The Bourgogne "Cuvée l'Héritière" 2020 comes from old vines planted in 1922 in the climat des Crénilles in Pommard, located on the plain near the village château. These century-old vines grow on a unique soil made up of white limestone, silt and stones characteristic of an ancient riverbed. This particular soil composition gives the wine a distinctive mineral signature and a specific tension. Old vines naturally produce very low yields, offset by an extraordinary concentration of aromatic compounds in each berry.

The vintage

The 2020 vintage in Bourgogne proved to be exceptional. Summer brought pronounced heat and drought, naturally reducing production while concentrating aromas. Paradoxically, this natural concentration was accompanied by remarkable freshness in acidity, particularly in tartaric acid. The grapes showed well-ripened, high-quality tannins with a fine texture. The absence of dramatic climatic incidents allowed for meticulous grape selection. The vintage is defined by its freshness, energy and remarkable balance.

Winemaking and aging

The Bourgogne "Cuvée l'Héritière" 2020 harvest is carried out exclusively by hand in small eight-kilogram crates. After a rigorous double sorting, the grapes are conveyed by belt to the vats. Alcoholic fermentation begins naturally thanks to indigenous yeasts and lasts between six and eight days, with daily monitoring of temperatures and residual sugars. Aging takes place on fine lees in oak barrels for ten to twenty months depending on the vintage, without racking. Malolactic fermentation is strategically delayed by about six months. Bottling is carried out without fining or filtration in order to preserve the wine’s aromatic integrity.
