The Estate
This family-owned estate in La Morra was founded in 1982 by Mauro Molino in Piedmont and spans 12 hectares of vineyards, spread between La Morra and Monforte. After graduating from the Oenology School in Alba in 1973, Mauro Molino produced his first vintage from the historic Conca dell'Annunziata parcel. Today, he runs the estate with his children Matteo, responsible for vinification since 2003, and Martina, in charge of sales since 2009. The Mauro Molino estate stands out for its respectful practices and elegant wines that are approachable in their youth while offering excellent aging potential.
The Vineyard
Barbera d'Asti Le Radici comes from a vineyard in the commune of Costigliole d'Asti, in the heart of the Monferrato hills, in one of the most renowned areas of the appellation. The 10- to 45-year-old vines are planted on limestone- and sand-rich soils with a southeastern exposure. This vineyard marks a return to the family’s roots in the Monferrato hills, where Grandfather Giuseppe was born.
Vinification and Aging
The harvest for Barbera d'Asti Le Radici 2023 is carried out by hand between late September and early October, with the grapes picked into small crates. Vinification includes a 10-day maceration, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine then benefits from 8 months of aging in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
Grape Variety
This red wine from Piedmont is 100% Barbera.
