An Exceptional Burgundian Monopole with Refined Aromas
The Estate
Founded in 1731 in Beaune, Bouchard Père et Fils is one of the oldest estates in Burgundy. Owned by the Henriot family since 1995 and headed by Gilles de Larouzière Henriot since 2015, it joined Artémis Domaines in 2022. The estate cultivates 130 hectares of vines, two-thirds of which are classified as Grands Crus and Premiers Crus on the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Bouchard Père & Fils stands out notably for its four emblematic monopoles and its innovative gravity-fed winery inaugurated in 2005.
The Vineyard
The Frémiets - Clos de la Rougeotte climat is a monopole of Bouchard Père & Fils on the appellation Volnay. This exceptional terroir covers 0.45 hectare, benefiting from an ideal south-east exposure. The Pinot noir vines thrive on clay-limestone soils over a marl base, imparting to the wine its characteristic minerality and elegant structure.
Winemaking and Aging
Hand-harvested, the grapes are carefully sorted cluster by cluster. Total or partial destemming, depending on the vintage, precedes fermentation in small vessels. After gentle pressing, maceration lasts 15 to 20 days depending on the vintage's characteristics. Aging takes place over 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, 30 % to 40 % of which are new wood, in the historic cellars of the Bastions of the old Château de Beaune.
Grape Variety
This wine is made exclusively from Pinot noir.
