Description
Produced in the Graves appellation on a vineyard with a total area of 15 hectares, the "Caroline" cuvée of Château de Chantegrive benefits from vines aged 30 years on average, with southern exposure, and planted in a sandy soil mixed with gravel and pebbles. The wine is aged in French oak barrels (of which 50% are new wood) on fine lees, for an average of 9 months and with regular stirring. The 2016 vintage contains a blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sémillon.
This 2016 vintage is marked by temperature conditions identical to that of 2015. Winter and spring (from January to June) were very rainy, setting up extremely dry climatic conditions for the summer. The harvest took place over three weeks in order to perfectly manage the ripeness of the grapes.
At tasting, the Château de Chantegrive "Caroline" 2016 offers a great complexity in its aromas. The wine is crisp, intensely fresh and incredibly fruity.
