    Description

A Pauillac wine reflecting all the elegance and power of its terroir

    The property
2nd Grand Cru Classé in 1855 from Pauillac belonging to the elite of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux, the Château Pichon Baron signs an exceptional 2019 vintage, entirely representative of the Pauillac appellation.

    The vineyard
A true mosaic of terroirs and superbly located near the Gironde estuary, the Pichon Baron vineyard extends over 73 hectares of vines planted on perfectly drained Médoc gravel soils, characteristic of the Pauillac appellation.

    The vintage
The year 2019 is characterized by a mild winter and a cool spring. The hot and dry summer allowed for good berry ripening. The ideal autumn was punctuated by a few rains.

    Vinification and aging
Manual harvest after parcel and intra-parcel selection. Manual sorting. Alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Temperatures regulated between 25 and 29°C. Maceration between 15 and 23 days. Malolactic fermentation, then regular racking on fine lees. Racking finished at the end of November. Aging for 18 months (80% in new barrels, 20% in barrels of one wine).

    Blend
    Cabernet sauvignon (87%), merlot (13%)
