Château Peyrabon 2014

Owned by the Bernard family who also own one of the major Bordeaux negociants, Millésima, the wine is structured, deliciously fruity and with a series of smoky tannins that will allow it to age. It comes from a vineyard close to Pauillac and that shows in the dense Cabernet Sauvignon that gives the wine its weight. Drink from 2021.

The 2014 Peyrabon has a ripe blueberry and crème de cassis-scented bouquet that has a touch of volatility. The palate is sweet and lush on the entry with plenty of black cherry and blueberry fruit, belying what feels like a firm structure underneath and rendering the finish drier and more classic than expected. There is a lot going on here and I suspect it will age with style. Tasted September 2016.

Tight, youthful and structured, yet already revealing appealing notes of cassis and raspberry leaf, with real potential to open up nicely.

The 2014 Peyrabon is an attractive, supple Haut-Médoc to drink now and over the next few years. Succulent red cherry, plum, tobacco and cedar wrap around the juicy, pliant finish. This is nicely done.

Fully mature, medium-bodied, earthy, round, open, and loaded with tobacco, herbs, and currants, this will be at its best over the next few years. Drink from 2022-2025.

Herbs, mineral bouquet, blue and black berries, wood, smoke. Rustic, powerful palate with medium fruit, finely sandy tannins, muscular structure, dry finish. 16/20 2020 - 2028

Nose of dark fruits and ripe bell pepper, floral notes, a supple, fleshy, aromatic and very fresh palate. We would have liked a bit more character

The color is garnet and the wine is fresh, well-structured, with good density. A safe bet at a very reasonable price.
