Vinum

Open and expressive, with bright Cabernet fruit and plenty of blackberry jelly; the palate is juicy and fresh, not especially concentrated, yet well-balanced, with a saline finish carried by red fruit.

Decanter

Dark blackcurrant with liquorice elements on the nose, smells fragrant and expressive. Juicy and fleshy, but round and softly filling, I like the fleshy, crushed stone aspect to this. Not trying too hard but giving a lot of generous fruit, salty tannins and still length. Great acidity, This will round out nicely.Easy drinking and will age.

Flowers, and currants are available in the nose. On the palate, the medium-bodied wine is supple, and bright, with a crisp, herb-tinted, currant-filled finish. You can enjoy this with pleasure on release, and for 12 or more years after that. The wine blends 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2028-2037. 89-91 Pts

Opening focuses on delicious bright berry fruits with well rounded, balanced flavours and soft tannins, for early drinking. Cool ferment, 30% in barrels and stainless steel and cement vats,

The oak ageing is certainly well expressed, but the wine’s true nature is equally highlighted. Notes of blackcurrant and eucalyptus mingle with hints of fresh wood, creating an aromatic harmony. On the palate, the wine shows power and charm. Its silky tannins are in tune with the incisive acidity, resulting in a juicy, powerful and savoury wine. A real success; it will age well for a long time—and it will be drunk before then!

Tasting

Appearance
The wine reveals a beautiful purple hue, enhanced by deep violet reflections.

Nose
The bouquet elegantly expresses aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, delicately highlighted by touches of aromatic herbs and fine spices.

The elegance of a Haut-Médoc wine by Château Peyrabon

The estate

Founded in 1766, the estate covers approximately 47 hectares in the heart of the Bordeaux region. This historic estate, recognized as a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, is located in the Haut-Médoc appellation. After significant modernizations led by the Bernard family, the estate is now managed by the Castéja family, who acquired it in 2022. Drawing on their expertise, this family continues the excellence of this prestigious brand. Château Peyrabon stands out for its exceptional terroir and its environmental commitment, offering wines with remarkable value for money.

The vineyard

Located in the commune of Saint-Sauveur-en-Médoc, not far from the Gironde estuary, this Haut-Médoc terroir benefits from a temperate oceanic climate. The vines thrive on Garonne gravelly-sandy soils resting on a clay subsoil, with some clay-limestone parcels.

Grape varieties

Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot.
