The estate
Founded in 1850, Domaine Laporte has seen two passionate Sancerre families succeed one another on its land, the Laporte and Bourgeois families, who brought it to prominence. In 1986, the Famille Bourgeois acquired the estate and has since helped elevate each vintage with ancestral know-how. On the estate’s land, the grapes receive meticulous care. Certified organic since the 2013 vintage, Domaine Laporte practices parcel-based vinification, offering a wide range of Loire wines recognized on the finest tables in France and abroad for their outstanding quality.
The vineyard
Grand Rochoy is a Sancerre wine crafted from a 2.5-hectare plot of old vines from Domaine du Rochoy. Known for their low yields and for producing a great wine that is rich and refined, the vines grow on stony, flint-rich soils.
Winemaking and aging
Following hand harvesting, the grapes undergo a slow pressing. Static cold settling before fermentation in stainless steel tanks (50%) and oak barrels (50%). No malolactic fermentation or added yeasts. This white Sancerre wine benefits from eleven months of aging on fine lees, with regular bâtonnage during the first 6 months. An additional 9 months of bottle aging is carried out before this wine is released.
Blend
Sauvignon Blanc (100%).
