Description

The elegance and character of a La Rioja white wine

The estate

One of the oldest and most emblematic producers in La Rioja, Bodega Gómez Cruzado was founded in 1886. Located near the railway station in Haro, the capital of La Rioja Alta, Bodega Gómez Cruzado illustrates the know-how of a wine region that has become one of the most influential and dynamic in Spain. Driven by the spirit and commitment of a young team, Bodega Gómez Cruzado is run under the direction of the duo David González and Juan Antonio Leza, two talented oenologists who have been able to reveal all the richness and character of the Rioja terroir in sublime Spanish wines. From the vineyard to the cellar, the wines of Bodega Gómez Cruzado reflect this desire to reveal the typicity of the grape varieties and the authenticity of the terroirs of the illustrious Spanish winegrowing area of La Rioja.

The vineyard

Situated between 500 and 750 metres above sea level, the three vineyards of Bodega Gomez Cruzado are located on ideal sites in the heart of a mosaic of terroirs divided into 100 plots. With the influence of the Atlantic climate, Sierra Cantabria is the source of wines that stand out for their freshness and elegance. A temple to Tempranillo, the Mediterranean influence of Bajo Najerilla gives rise to red wines with ripe fruit and excellent ageing potential. With old vines, over 80 years old, Alto Najerilla reveals all the purity of Grenache's fruity character. Montes Obarenes 2018 comes from vineyards around Haro. The soil is clay and limestone with a high proportion of silt.
