Description
An Elegant Saint-Émilion with an Airy Character
The Estate
Located in Saint-Laurent-des-Combes in the Saint-Émilion appellation in Bordeaux, Château Tertre Roteboeuf extends over approximately 6 hectares of vines arranged in an amphitheater. Taken over in the late 1970s by François Mitjavile, who currently manages the estate, this property owes its uniqueness to an unconventional viticulture: very low vine training, extreme ripeness, and late harvests, creating wines of remarkable concentration while preserving their freshness.
The Vineyard
The vineyard of Château Tertre Roteboeuf benefits from an exceptional location in Saint-Émilion. The vines are planted on clay-limestone terroir and trained very low. The grape varieties favor Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Production amounts to approximately 27,000 bottles. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, reflecting artisanal and meticulous work.
The Vintage
The 2014 vintage is characterized by a cool and rainy summer followed by a dry and mild autumn. Ripening occurred slowly, with an autumnal maturation period marked by long, humid, and cool nights alternating with sunny days without excessive heat. These conditions allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. Harvesting was carried out particularly late, between October 15 and 20, making it one of the latest vintages in the region.
Grape Varieties
Merlot and Cabernet Franc compose the blend of Château Tertre Roteboeuf 2014.
