After honing his skill at his father’s estate, Domaine Marc Colin, Pierre-Yves Colin set out in 2001 to establish his own negociant business with his wife Caroline. In 2006, he purchased a new press and began producing his own wines, from 6 hectares (15 acres) of inherited vineyards. Today, the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate produced some of the most sought-after bottlings of Burgundy, 70% of which come from the estate’s own vineyards and the rest from known and trusted growers in top Burgundy appellations, like the Grands Crus of Batard-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne. Known mostly for its white wines made from Chardonnay, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey follows a traditional winemaking at the winery, with whole bunch pressing, native yeast fermentation, extended lees aging and long-term bottle aging. These wines are terroir-driven to the core, sometimes strict in their youth but revealing tremendous complexity with age.
