Description
Three great vintages from Château Angélus brought together in an exceptional presentation case
The estate
Founded in 1782, Château Angélus is an iconic Bordeaux estate located in Saint-Émilion. Spanning 32 hectares, it has been run by the de Boüard family for 8 generations. The vineyard, planted mainly with Cabernet Franc and Merlot, benefits from a unique clay-limestone terroir on the southern hillside of Saint-Émilion. The name “Angélus” comes from the bells of the neighboring churches, symbolizing the estate’s heritage and identity.
The vineyard
Located on the southern hillside of Saint-Émilion, on the “pied de côte”, Château Angélus’ vineyard flourishes on a clay-limestone terroir particularly suited to expressing Bordeaux grape varieties. The vines are 39 years old on average.
The presentation case
« Vintages follow one another yet are never the same. That is the magic of a great terroir in constant motion, enriched by a capricious climate: each of these years writes the story of Angelus. »
True to this philosophy, the estate presents “Les Intemporels”, three presentation cases bringing together three exceptionally rare bottles, beautifully matured, bearing witness to historic vintages that trace the evolution of this essential Right Bank Bordeaux property.
The first case, called « Les Intemporels I », spotlights the 1982, 1985 and 1986 vintages. The 1980s were marked by renewed winemaking at the estate, giving rise to vintages with rare aging potential.
