Description
A case bringing together three vintages of a mineral, racy Alsatian Riesling, an exceptional expression of the Grand Cru Schlossberg
The estate
Founded in 1612 by Capuchin monks in Kientzheim, in the Haut-Rhin, Domaine Weinbach has established itself as a benchmark of Alsatian viticulture. The Faller family has owned it since 1898. Today, Catherine Faller and her sons Théo and Eddy carry on this legacy with passion and high standards. The estate is farmed organically and biodynamically, certified by Ecocert and Demeter, reflecting a deep commitment to the authentic expression of the terroir.
The vineyard
Located in the upper part of the Grand Cru Schlossberg, in Alsace, this vineyard stretches across a steep, south-facing slope, offering optimal sun exposure. The soils, shallow and sandy, rest on a granitic substratum that gives the wine its distinctive mineral signature. True to its philosophy, the estate farms its vines according to biodynamic principles, certified by Ecocert and Demeter. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, at perfect ripeness.
The wine
This case brings together, in magnum format, three vintages that mark the history of this cuvée:
2021 : an elegant nose of white-fleshed fruits and beeswax, enhanced by a beautiful granitic minerality. On the palate, a fine, racy structure, driven by ripe, crystalline acidity, with a floral touch. Pure, long and persistent finish.
2022 : a fruity bouquet supported by persistent liveliness. The palate charms with its racy structure as well as its lively, crystalline and persistent acidity.
2023 : the nose reveals aromas of white-fleshed fruits and a hint of wax, carried by a clear minerality with granitic nuances. The overall profile remains very fresh and dynamic. On the palate, the texture is sleek and precise, supported by bright, well-ripened acidity, with delicate floral notes in the background. The finish is straight, very pure, and lingers at length.
