The estate
Located on the banks of the Gironde, Château Charmail has established itself as one of the finest references among the exceptional Cru Bourgeois on Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
The vineyard
Château Charmail 2022 is an Haut-Médoc wine from a 52-hectare vineyard. The vines are on average 31 years old and are planted on clay and gravel soils. The property is in the process of being converted to organic farming.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvests done by hand. Cold pre-fermentation maceration. Gentle extraction. The wine was aged for 12 months, 85% in 500-litre barrels (50% of which were new wood) and 15% in concrete eggs.
Blend
Château Charmail 2022 is a blend of Merlot (45%), Cabernet Sauvignon (37%), Cabernet Franc (13%) and Petit Verdot (5%).
