This has a lightly peppery edge to the core of red currant and bitter plum fruit flavors, backed by light herb notes on the finish. Good energy, with a brambly echo. Nice effort for the vintage. Drink now. 750 cases made, 200 cases imported.

A fine and silky red with plum, brambleberry and hints of cedar. Medium body, fine tannins and a lightly chewy finish. Drink or hold.

Good volume, sweet berries, plush textures, and a fresh, dark-berry finish make this one of the top value Bordeaux wines in this vintage. From a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the wine comes from yields of 15 hectoliters per hectare and is aging in 50% new French oak. 86-88 pts

Fresh berry fruit, plum and herbal notes on the nose. Medium weight and high acidity, youthful tannins and a moderately long finish.

Pleasant suppleness of texture in the 2013, which retains sincere fruit and a tender palate.

    Description

    86-88 Points, Robert Parker

"Clarisse is another good property that is largely unknown from a relatively obscure appellation of St.-Emilion. This blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, made with consulting help from the famous Stephane Derenoncourt, had incredibly tiny yields of 15-19 hectoliters per hectare. It was harvested late, from October 12 to 21. Not an expensive wine, and certainly a well-made one, this is a pretty wine with surprisingly low acidity in a high-acid year, solid mulberry and black cherry fruit, and chalky minerality in the background. The wine is medium-bodied, very well-made and carries 13.1% natural alcohol, which is impressive in this vintage."
