    Description

The structure and elegance of a Beaujolais red wine

    The estate

A veritable monument to wine, Château du Moulin-à-Vent has been located in the prestigious appellation of the same name in northern Beaujolais since 1732. Today, Château du Moulin-à-Vent has a history spanning more than 300 years, during which time three families have succeeded one another. Although their histories differ, they have all shared the same certainty: that of the pre-eminence of Moulin-à-Vent. Under the aegis of the Parinet family since 2009, Château du Moulin-à-Vent is now undergoing a remarkable renaissance thanks to the dedication of two daring innovators: Édouard Parinet and Brice Laffond. With their enthusiasm, curiosity and passion, the two men are producing exceptional wines that faithfully reflect the expression of the great terroirs of the Beaujolais region.

    The vineyard

This wine comes from the "La Rochelle" vineyard, a 4.2-hectare area placed at an altitude of 280 metres in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, with a soil composed of granite and clay. This cuvée is made from vines that are on average 90 years old.

    Winemaking and ageing

The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully placed in 30-litre bins before being meticulously sorted on two sorting tables. Once harvested, 60% of the grapes are destemmed to preserve their integrity and freshness. No sulphites are used during vinification, with careful pumping over and punching down every day. The wine is aged in stainless steel vats (70%) and French oak barrels (30%) for 18 months.
