    Description

The elegance of Château Kirwan in a highly anticipated vintage

    The estate
Ranked as a 3rd Cru Classé of Margaux in the grand classification of Médoc wines in 1855, the Château Kirwan has belonged to the Schÿler family since 1925. Driven by the dynamism of Philippe Delfaut and equipped with infrastructure that matches its terroir, Château Kirwan belongs to the elite of the Grands Crus of Margaux.

    The vineyard
Located on the plateau of Cantenac, in Margaux, the vineyard of Château Kirwan extends over 37 hectares of vines. This superb hill of gravel and clay brings together all the favorable conditions for the maturation of the great Médoc grape varieties.

    The vintage
2015 remains in memory as the vintage that follows a very encouraging 2014 vintage and the delicate years of 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Despite the fact that 2015 was the hottest year for the Margaux appellation since 2005, the soils resisted thanks to sufficient water reserves, to the spring and summer drought. The first rains of August were salvific, the acceleration of the veraison then allowing the launch of the berry maturation phase. The harvest took place in very good sanitary conditions and allowed the collection of very high quality grapes.

    Vinification and aging
The 2015 vintage inaugurates the new vat room of Château Kirwan. The harvested grapes are transferred by gravity into 37 tulip-shaped concrete vats (1 per hectare), favoring vinifications whose softness and precision are in perfect harmony with the parcel selection carried out by the château's teams.

    Blend
    C
abernet sauvignon (50%), merlot (35%), cabernet franc (10%) and petit verdot (5%).
