    Description

The delicacy and aromatic richness of a Sauternes wine

    The property

First Classified Growth of Sauternes in 1855, the Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is among the most prestigious names of the emblematic sweet wine appellation located south of the Bordeaux region.

    The vineyard

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an exceptional terroir with a 30-hectare vineyard exclusively dedicated to the production of its First Classified Growth of Sauternes.

    The vintage

A particularly rainy winter is followed by a very mild spring, leading to high mildew pressure. Thanks to the dry and warm conditions in mid-May, flowering is homogeneous and early. From June 19, the rainfall gives way to dry and cool weather until mid-July, which marks the beginning of veraison. High heat peaks are recorded until mid-August when salvaging storms allow the grapes to resume maturation. The rainy episodes in the second half of September favor the development of Botrytis. The harvested grapes are concentrated with satisfactory sugar levels, guaranteeing a high-quality 2020 vintage.

    Vinification and aging

Fermentation in 225-liter French oak barrels. The aging process lasts 10 months in barrels (1/3 of which are new), followed by 8 months in stainless steel tanks.

    Blend

The Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2020 is a blend of sémillon (88%) and sauvignon blanc (12%).
